It Must Be Bunnies

The baby shower gifts made it on time.

I enjoy the Stash and Burn podcast. I don't have a favorite but I relate very strongly to Jenny. We are practically the same person.

This is the podcast that made me realize that grown women could love Buffy and Angel with no irony. I already knew I liked Firefly and after years of listening to the podcast I mentioned to my brother that I had never seen the shows. He was shocked gifted me used copies of all the seasons for Thanksgiving. I've enjoyed every second of them. Twice.

So when Jenny announced her pregnancy I knew what I had to make her. A Joss Whedon themed box.

Firefly
Zoe:  I don’t give a good gorram about relevant, Wash. Or objective. And I ain’t so afraid of losing something that I ain’t gonna try to have it. You and I would make one beautiful baby. And I want to meet that child one day.
Period.

Angel
Girl: Nice sweater. Hand-knit?
Wesley: Certainly not by me!
Girl: I didn't mean . . . I mean, it's a great sweater.
Wesley: Oh, well I'll pass that on then . . . to the person who knit it. I mean, I would if I knew who did. Which I don't. So I won't pass it on to anyone, will I?

Buffy
Anya:  Bunnies aren't just cute like everybody supposes.
They got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses.
And what's with all the carrots?
What do they need such good eyesight for anyway?
Bunnies. Bunnies. It must be bunnies!

It's synchronicity that when I started reading Mark Watches again he was watching Buffy and Angel for the first time too. He was farther along than me so after this episode I had to stop and back up in time. And then Yarn Harlot just mentioned watching Angel  and Doubleknit (#76) is watching Buffy this month too. I really thought being 16 years late to the party I would be on my own. I love that I'm not and that others are still watching it and talking about it.

I missed Nicole's baby shower three years ago so I knit this in a big boy size.

Buffy: I don't really have a security blanket... unless you count Mr. Pointy.

The bunny turned out atomically correct. Joss would approve.

He would approve even more if I knit the bunny a sweetie then killed it, smashing this bunnies heart like a bug, and then for me knit it an extended group of friends that turn into family while trying to do right. Maybe this summer.
